Admission as an in-patient

The following information is necessary if during your outpatient consultation it appears that you will require treatment as an in-patient:

Consultation with an anesthesiologist:

A consultation with an anesthesiologist prior to your admission as an in-patient is mandatory.

After the examination the doctor may ask you to undergo additional examinations (blood tests, cardiologic assessment, pulmonary examination, X-ray examination, etc. ...)

If the date of the operative intervention and your clinic of choice have been settled, you will need to make an appointment:

  • for the Clinique St Antoine with Dr. Harald Baar:
    • Address: 24 avenue Georges Clémenceau (opposite the Clinique Saint Antoine
    • Telephone: 04.93.88.85.00
  • for the Clinique St George with one of the 3 anesthesiologists: (Dr. Fabrice Loridon; Dr. Claude Planchard; Dr. Jacques Bisquerra)
    • Telephone: 04.92.12.44.58
    • Dr. Bisquerra: consulting hours in the Clinique St-George
    • Dr. Lordion and Dr. Planchard: Résidence du roi Albert Ier, 7 avenue Albert Ier. Building B (100 metres away from the Clinique Saint George.)

Preoperative examination of urine.

Prior to any surgical intervention which might require bladder catheterisation, the examination of the urine (ECBU) to determine whether there is an infection is mandatory. The results must be passed on to the anesthesiologist during the preoperative consultation. In the event of an infection which has not been treated, it may be necessary to postpone your admission to the clinic to reduce the risk of a nosocomial infection.

Informed consent.

In the surgery you will receive an information leaflet about the operative intervention or the upcoming palpatory examination. Please read the leaflet carefully and return it to the secretary’s office after you have read and signed it.

Should you desire more information, you can find out more in the course of another appointment (after arranging the appointment with my secretary’s office) or you can refer to the information available under "Links to medical websites", in particular the website of the Collége National de Gynécologie Obstétrique (gynecology and obstetrics).

Documents required for admission.

A few days prior to your admission as an in-patient it is essential that you come by my surgery so that my assistants can give you the necessary documents (six to eight pages) required for admission to the clinic, in particular the medical files and administrative documents.
Please bring the results of your prior examinations with you to the clinic: radiographs, mammographs or ultrasonography pictures for the surgical intervention.

Fees.

Prior to every admission as an in-patient you will receive a written estimate of costs listing the fees and terms of payment.
Your supplementary insurance will provide you with the necessary information depending on the provisions of your agreement. If you require additional information you are also welcome to consult my secretary’s office.

Postoperative aftercare.

During your stay in the clinic I will try to come by every day and inform you of your physical condition and the results of the examinations. Should you experience any problems after you have been discharged, then I would request you to contact my surgery during office hours and to leave a message for me with my assistants who will pass it on to me.

In an emergency or in my absence or if you are unable to reach me, emergency services are on call:

  • In the Clinique St George day and night (the gynecologist and emergency physician on duty ).
    • Telephone: 04.92.26.77.77
    • Telephone: 04.93.81.71.50
  • In the Clinique St Antoine during the day (emergency physician).
    • Telephone: 04.93.16.76.00

Postoperative consultation.

In the documents for your admission you will find an appointment card with the date and time of your next postoperative consultation.
During this consultation we will discuss and assess your stay in hospital,  the surgical intervention, the results of the examinations and the postoperative course.
We will also discuss possible additional treatments as required.
