Admission as an in-patient
The
following information is necessary if
during your outpatient consultation it appears that you will require
treatment as an in-patient:
Consultation with an anesthesiologist:
A
consultation with an anesthesiologist prior to your admission as an
in-patient is mandatory.
After the examination the doctor may
ask you to undergo additional examinations (blood tests, cardiologic
assessment, pulmonary examination, X-ray examination, etc. ...)
If the date of the operative intervention
and your clinic of choice have been settled, you will need to make an
appointment:
Preoperative examination of urine.
Prior to any surgical
intervention which might require bladder catheterisation, the examination
of the urine (ECBU) to determine whether there is an infection is mandatory. The results must be
passed on to the anesthesiologist during the preoperative consultation.
In the event of an infection which has not been treated, it may be necessary
to postpone your admission to the clinic to reduce the
risk of a nosocomial infection.
Informed consent.
In
the surgery you will receive an information leaflet about the operative
intervention or the upcoming palpatory examination. Please read the
leaflet carefully and return it to the secretary’s office after you
have read and signed it.
Should
you desire more information, you can find out more in the course of
another appointment (after arranging the appointment with my secretary’s
office) or you can refer to the information available under "Links to medical websites", in
particular the website of the Collége National de Gynécologie Obstétrique (gynecology
and obstetrics).
Documents required for admission.
A
few days prior to your admission as an in-patient it is essential that you come by my surgery so
that my assistants can give you the
necessary documents (six to eight pages) required for admission to
the clinic, in particular the medical files and administrative documents.
Fees.
Prior
to every admission as an in-patient you will receive a written estimate
of costs listing the fees and terms of payment.
Postoperative aftercare.
During
your stay in the clinic I will try to come by every day and inform you
of your physical condition and the results of the examinations. Should
you experience any problems after you have been discharged, then I would
request you to contact my surgery during office hours and to leave a
message for me with my assistants who will pass it on to me.
In an emergency or in my absence or if you are unable to reach me, emergency services are on call:
Postoperative consultation.
In the documents for
your admission you will find an appointment card with the date and time of your next postoperative consultation.
